Everyone needs to “recreate” from time to time – and if you’re a kid, it’s a full time job. Jones County’s parks and playgrounds are the perfect places for swinging, swimming – or sitting back and drinking in the beauty of nature.
Neighborhood parks abound in our various communities – with a variety of things to do for fun and relaxation:
- Playgrounds in Cottonmill and Mason Parks;
- Swimming at Victoria Park and the Natatorium;
- Picnic tables and pavilions in KC and Sandy Gavin Parks;
- Garden parks that encourage contemplation in Euclid and Northwood Parks;
And, that’s only the beginning: you’ll find numerous walking trails, tennis courts and meeting centers throughout Jones County. And, don’t forget the many sports venues like the Sportsplex and Boston Park – but that’s another page altogether.
If you like your recreational areas “super-sized,” we have two area water parks you must put on your “To-Visit” list:
- Lake Bogue Homa, managed by Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, is a 1,200-acre lake that offers fishing, water sports and camping sites.
- Big Creek Water Park, managed by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, is a 200-acre fishing lake with several cabins and camping sites.
If recreation is an important part of your life, look no further than Jones County.
